We are pleased to announce that the National Uniting Church President will be preaching at both services on the 14th March. Rev Alistair Macrae is coming to Adelaide to visit Kid’s Camp Out and attend a number of other Synod events. I only asked last week if Alistair was free anytime in the next 2 years and was very surprise to hear he was free and happy to come next week. Hence the late notice! Rev Leanne

Beacon Pantry Shelves

The Beacon Pantry Shelves are emptying and their major food sponsor, Curves, will not be having a food drive until June. Donations of food for Beacon will be gratefully accepted in the office, please state that the food is for Beacon when leaving it.

Recycling

Battery Recycling – The Enviro Group has placed a collection bin next to the clothing bin opposite the toilets. For all types of batteries … but not car batteries!

Compact fluoro tubes and bulbs – may be recycled through the Church office. Long tubes May be given to Penny (in the new tube box) in the office for disposal.

Office Hours ~

Please note that the office is not open on Mondays, even though the Church is open for the Playgroups. The office is open Tuesday to Friday, but unfortunately some Tuesday and Friday afternoons there will be no one here during the duration of my treatment. If you need to speak to one of us or need help with something it might be a good idea to phone first, this will save you a wasted journey. Thank you, Jackie.

Playgroup Chairs

Thanks to a generous donation, this week we are able to buy some smaller, safer chairs for the small children, who we found were falling off the larger chairs. These will help make Playgroup a safer place for them. Thank you to all who have made donations to the playgroup. It makes such a difference to be able to buy things as the need arises.

Partnering with Papua?

A Synod wide invitation has been extended to come to BUC and hear about the recent visit and learn how congregations can engage with our existing partnership with the GKI Papuan church. For those who came to church on Feb 28th some of the stories will sound familiar but some you haven’t heard. We will spend more time addressing the question of what individuals and congregations can do.

Saturday, March 27th 7.30 – 9pm (with supper afterwards). Here at Blackwood Uniting. Gold coin donation for Numfor projects.
